IF WE HAD LED 2:1, NO ONE WOULD BE SURPRISED, REGRETS TATAR AFTER THE THIRD GAME

In an interview for Krkonošský deník, Jakub Tatar looked back at the matches played against Ústí nad Labem and invited the audience in Vrchlabí to the battle on Friday.

Jakub, after Wednesday's third game you are losing the series 1:2. Do you think that this situation corresponds to the picture of the eighth finals so far?
It's hard to judge whether the situation is consistent with the current picture of the eight finals. It's a very even series, where the winner of the match is always decided by small things, sometimes even by luck. For me personally, I think that if the series was 2:1 for us, no one would be surprised.

You came back to Ústí with a draw. What were your feelings, did you have a lot of confidence after two games?
After the two previous matches, which we played very well, I think we were in a better frame of mind than our opponent from Ústí. We had a lot of confidence in ourselves because we showed ourselves in that Monday home game that if we play our game and are focused, we can be a better team on the ice.

You started the third game great again, leading 1:0 and 2:1. Where to find the reasons for the excellent start to the game?
Definitely in our confidence and also in the fact that we can have a better head set at the beginning of the games. We definitely got a kick out of the fact that we fought off a shorthanded goal right from the start of the game, and right after that we got a five-on-three power play opportunity, which we were able to take advantage of.

But then you brought your opponent back into the game with a series of fouls of your own. How hard is it to avoid playing shorthanded? Unfortunately, there are a lot of fouls in the series.
You're right, there are a lot of fouls in this series and unfortunately for us, those power play goals keep them afloat. They don't score many goals in five-on-five games. We have to be more careful not to give the referees the opportunity to call any fouls at all. The opponent from Ústí can show these small touches with a stick or body very well.

Fortunately, you managed to equalize right at the beginning of the middle period. There was a lot of euphoria on your side, don't you agree?
Yes, we had a very good start to the second period and once again the strength of our team showed. A lot of teams as young as us might have been intimidated after the end of the first period, but once again, we can all set our heads right and handle these tough moments in games.

Was there a chance to finish off the soca at that point?
It's hard to say, we still created a few chances where we could have turned the score in our favour, but from the time the score was level at 4-4 the game was very even.

The final period offered a goal on both sides. But the overtime was better for the opponent. What explains that?
Well, what can I say, we're just not good at overtime this season.

What was the mood on the bus on the way home? Did anyone give a motivational speech after the game?
Of course we are all sorry about the result, we wanted to take the second point and we all know that it was really close. But the series is played for three wins and the rabbits are counted after the chase. Yes, there were some words in the locker room after the game.

You have to win on Friday, there's no other way.
